Species: Shinigami, basically a human, but in soul form with awesum powers.

Appearance: Ichigo’s most defining feature is his neon orange hair. He never combs it, so it sticks out at all angles. Ichigo will be in Shinigami form, and therefore will be wearing the standard issue black hakama, which seems to mysteriously be able to repair itself...along with basic samurai sandals. Because he tries to keep up a tough guy image, Ichigo constantly keeps his eyebrows furrowed. He has brown eyes. Ichigo’s Zanpukto is Zangetsu, always in it’s first release, or shikai form, it looks like an oversized kitchen knife, with no hilt. It’s sheath is a MAGIC CLOTH that stretches to cover it when at rest, and is at a managable length when not covering the blade.

Abilities: Ichigo’s got a ton of spiritual energy, that’s constantly emitting from him. While he has learned to use it to his advantage, he’s got a tough time sensing the presence of other reitsu, much to the chargin of his friends. He has the ability of Bankai, the second release of his sword, however, he will find that impossible to do in Manhattan. In addition to his Shinigami power, Ichigo can also form a hollow’s mask at will, to increase his power ten fold. In Manhattan he will find he can only just turn his eyes black, no mask at all will form, and he won’t be able to hold onto the power he can access. Ichigo has gotten quite strong physically throughout his battles, and he’ll be keeping that, though he won’t be as fast as he usually is at all. Most importantly, he won’t be able to use his Zanpukto’s ability, the Getsuga Tenshou, which is basically a huge blast of condensed reitsu, more than once or twice before competely wearing himself out.

Background: Ichigo Kurosaki was just your average high school student, well, except for the fact that he could see and communicate with ghosts. He took it all in stride, however, often helping the spirits of the dearly departed finish their business in the human world. Then, one fateful night, Ichigo and his family were attacked by a horrible monster known as a Hollow.

Hollows are spiritual beings that consume the souls of living people. Ichigo's immense spiritual energy had drawn it to his home, where it injured his dad and sisters. Borrowing powers from Rukia Kunchiki, a Shinigami, or Soul Reaper, Ichigo was able to kill the Hollow and several others that followed. However, by lending her power to him, Rukia had commited a felony by the Soul Society.

When two other Shinigami, Renji Abari and Byakuya Kunchiki came to retrieve her, Ichigo found himself beaten, stripped of the powers that Rukia had lent him, and left for dead. He managed to regain his Shinigami staus through training with Kisuke Urahara, a strange shop owner who seemed to know everything about Soul Society and Ichigo's situation, even though Ichigo hadn't told him anything. After intense training Ichigo, along with 3 friends from school, Yatsuhara Sado (or Chad), Inoue Orihime, and Uryuu Ishida, each with their own unique spiritual power, and a talking cat, Yoruichi, entered the soul society in order to free Rukia. While there, Ichigo only continued to grow more powerful with every battle, even eventually mastering Bankai, a Shinigami technique that normally takes ten years to learn.

Using this new power, Ichigo fought and defeated Byakuya Kunchiki and freed Rukia....or so he thought. Another Shinigami by the name of Sosuke Aizen had been planning to destroy the Soul Society. Even though Ichigo had freed Rukia from her execution, Aizen still managed to not only defeat Renji and cut Ichigo in half, but he also stole the Hogokyu, or Breakdown Sphere, an item created by Urahara and hidden inside Rukia! Aizen retreated as the rest of the Shinigami Captains arrived to stop him. This conspiracy revealed, Rukia was cleared of all her charges, and Ichigo was made a deputy Shinigami. After everyone had recovered from the final battle, the group went back to the world of the living, Rukia electing to stay behind, as she belonged with her squad.

After returning to the world of the living, Ichigo was approached by a group known as the Vizards. Shinigami that had the powers of a personal inner hollow. Ichigo too, had developed an inner hollow, that had started making it's presence known with a reappearing mask, and finally took temporary control of Ichigo's body during his fight with Byakuya. At first, Ichigo refused their offer to join the ranks, which proved a fatal mistake when Arrancar attacked Karakura! An Arrancar is a hollow that has removed it's mask to gain the powers of a Shinigami using the Hogokyu, the polar opposite of a Vizard. Among the Arrancar, there are ten super powerful individuals known as the Espada. Ichigo fought against the sixth, Grimmjow, and had his ass handed to him. It was then he tracked down the Vizards to tame his inner hollow.

Ichigo was put into a trance, which took him within his own soul. He fought with his hollow, and barely won. Ichigo underwent heavy training, but only managed to stay hollowfied for 11 seconds. After another lost fight to Grimmjow, Orihime is captured by Aizen and taken to Hueco Mundo, land of the hollows and Aizen's strong hold. The Soul Society refuses to send a rescue team, so Ichigo mounts a rescue. Along with Chad and Uryuu, with shinigami friends, the group invades Hueco Mundo. After initially getting lost, the group is aided by a few friendly Arrancar, which lead them to Aizen's fort. During his many fights, Ichigo was finally able to freely control his hollow power, finally defeating Grimmjow.


Personality: Personality-wise, Ichigo is your basic punk teen. He gets into fights a lot, and is pretty cocky about his ability in battle. However, this doesn't mean Ichigo goes around looking for fights, rather, fights come looking for him. Ichigo spends a lot of his free time studying, and because of this he's ranked number 23 in his class. His reasoning is that he already gets enough grief over his hair color, and doesn't want anymore over his grades. He also claims he's got nothing better to do at home anyway.

Ichigo is close to all his friends, but especially close to Chad. Chad is usually the one to back Ichigo up in streetfights, and the two have even made a *manly* pact to cover each other's back whenever they fought. Ichigo treasures his friendships dearly, and would certainly die for any of them. Rarely one to put himself first, Ichigo can be kind, thoughtful, and caring, but he does have a social image to keep up after all.

Ichigo is driven by his will to protect others. Whenever asked about his power, he usually replies that it was nessasary for him to obtain it, so he could protect the ones he cares most about. This stems from the circumstances of his mother's death, even though he was quite young, (and, conversely, it was a hollow, not an accident), he feels directly responsible for it, and doesn't want to lose anyone else who is close to him. However, in his desire to protect everyone, he ostrisizes those who also have power and are capable of protecting themselves, usually winding up injured on their behalf.

Ichigo doesn't like to fight without reason, like Kenpachi, who likes to fight just to fight. Though he doesn't not enjoy a good challenge, he's not about to go picking fights with anyone he meets just because he can. He's not one for coming up with complicated strategies, but, he can follow plans set by others, and usually agrees to them.

Because his reishi is usually on "full blast" all the time, he's had problems containing it or controlling it in the past, but, with battle and experience, has seemed to have gotten better at it.

Even though he should be used to some of the weirdness his life has become, Ichigo tends to have exaggerated reactions to strange occurances or things his friends say. Also, as he's still in the green with the kind of fighting he's now into, he can be thrown for a loop should an enemy use a technique new to him or something like that.
